Lars Klingbeil is a German politician (SPD) and since 2017 Secretary General of the Social Democratic
Party of Germany. He was born in Soltau in 1978 and grew up in Munster in the Luneburg Heath.
In 1996 Lars Klingbeil joined the SPD and 2009 Lars Klingbeil was elected in the constituency of
Rotenburg I - Heidekreis in the German Bundestag. Since 2017, he represents the constituency as a
directly elected representative. Since 2006 he is active as an active local politician in the district
Heidekreis.
While studying social sciences, he worked in the office of the former Federal Chancellor Gerhard
Schröder. From 2009-2017 Klingbeil was digital policy spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group
and a member of the defense committee. He is a founding member of D64 - Center for Digital
Progress and member of AWO - a national workers' welfare association and IG BCE - a trade union
mining, chemistry, energy.
